We are looking for our next Communications and Outreach Manager to plan, manage, and coordinate SBGP’s communications and outreach in collaboration with the Senior Communications and Outreach Manager. This position helps SBGP engage with the communities in the South Baltimore Gateway District and responds to their needs, while also ensuring the general public and stakeholders see and understand the work SBGP is doing. This position gathers, produces, and disseminates information among diverse stakeholders in the District, while also serving in a supporting liaison role to the communities SBGP serves. The Communications and Outreach Manager will engage with the 17 communities in the SBGP District through email, phone, social media, and attendance at community meetings and coordinates with other staff for community meeting support.

Here's a Snapshot of the Position:
- Provides strategic communication recommendations for new projects and programs, supported across communication channels (website, social media, emails) and documents (FAQs, guidance guides, etc.) as new programs and projects arise.
- Recommends appropriate, accessible, and regular engagement with communities involved with SBGP projects, programs, or events for all program areas (Community Grants and workshop program, Enhances Services, and Transformational Projects, including the Community Development Fund).
- Supports management of the SBGP website, including website redesigns and updates, content development, and working with website consultant regarding advanced technical website changes.
- Manages a communications calendar to ensure consistent sharing of information and resources to the public.
- Initiates strategy conversations with project partners to ensure high-quality engagement and communications for various projects.
- Serves as an SBGP point of contact for media; helps coordinates interviews and press opportunities; and maintains contacts lists.
- Drafts and reviews press releases, and coordinates with partners to disseminate.
- Collaborates with staff members on talking points for press events.
- Collaborates with staff members for planning media and community events, such as ribbon cuttings, press conferences, etc.
- Ensures meetings and events are as accessible as possible, and coordinates virtual access, closed captions, physical access, and information access.
- Ensures documents and web content are as accessible as possible, and makes content available for screen-reading software.
Is This You?
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in communications. If you are bi-lingual (Spanish), that would be great (but not required)!
- This position requires frequent interactions including with diverse groups and individuals, including stakeholders, partners, business leaders, residents, neighborhood leaders, government leaders, state/local officials, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills and attention to detail, with ability to anticipate, initiate, and advance multiple priorities and projects concurrently.
- Demonstrated communications project management experience, including proficiency with research, planning, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of digital accessibility (a11y) tools and concepts is a plus.

- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with creating and posting communications for social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.).
- Google Suite (Calendar, Docs, etc.).
- Website Content Management Software (such as WordPress).
- Creative Marketing tools and software including: Canva, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Vimeo, Hootsuite, and MailChimp.
- Video conferencing to conduct meetings and events via Teams, Zoom, or other video conferencing technology.
- Available to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Terrific Total Compensation Package:
- Entry salary range of $62,000 to $68,000.00, commensurate with experience.
