Interested in pursuing a career in tourism? Do you love Annapolis and Anne Arundel County? Want to help bring more visitors to the area? Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County is looking for TWO interns to join us for Summer 2021. Join us to make Annapolis and Anne Arundel County one of the top tourism destinations in Maryland.

Our Tourism Interns will work with our team on several exciting projects, including updating our digital content, planning virtual and in-person events. Also, our Tourism Interns will enjoy being “on the road” with “Arundel Ambassador”, our Mobile Visitor Center. The Arundel Ambassador travels throughout the region for special events, and our interns will be a key part of our Arundel Ambassador events! Interns should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team and energetic environment. By the completion of this internship, you will have gained broad exposure in exciting aspects of tourism – and most importantly, you will have had a lot of fun along the way.

A Day in the Life of Our Interns… you will get to work on some really cool projects. Take a glance:

Arundel Ambassador:
  • Represent VAAAC at Arundel Ambassador sites within a 150-mile radius of Annapolis.
  • Update Arundel Ambassador landing page weekly via our content management system (CMS).
  • Edit Arundel Ambassador weekly promotional videos.
  • Source and secure Arundel Ambassador sites within the VAAAC drive market.

Event Management:
  • Create and track events in our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Plan, operate and host Live stream events.

Digital & Social Media:
  • Create and edit compelling digital media content for our social media and web channels.
  • Draft and launch social media campaigns.

Community Promotions
  • Communicate with corporate Partners to secure weekly contest prizes and event participation.
  • Create and distribute ‘welcome’ e-blasts to contest entries.
  • Communicate with prize winners and participating Partners post-event.
  • Deliver prizes to contest winners.
  • Manage our inventory of promotional giveaways.

INTERN QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Undergraduate student currently studying Tourism, Hospitality, Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations (Current enrollment in an A.A. or B.A./B.S. degree program required).
  • Students attending a HBCU or Community College are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Residency in Annapolis or Anne Arundel County preferred but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and tools.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office.
  • Familiar with video editing software.
  • Must be available to work on Saturdays.
  • Must have reliable transportation to attend events.

This Internship Offers:
  • $15/hour, up to 30 hours of work per week through Summer 2021.
