Are you a Howard County resident who's passionate about serving your community? The Village of Hickory Ridge in Columbia is seeking a Village Manager to manage all Village operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with one of the ten Villages of Columbia, and have a direct impact on the community! 

The mission of Hickory Ridge is to improve the lives of village residents through advocacy, education, and programs/events. The Village Manager will plan, implement, and manage all operations, programs, and activities of the Village, including recreational, educational, and community services and programs. This person will manage the annual Village budget, supervise employees, and serve as board liaison.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs and manages all Village functions.
  • Hires, directs, and develops Village staff.
  • Performs supervisory administrative tasks, including weekly scheduling, time sheets, petty cash, expense reports, payroll processing, benefits management, etc.
  • Manages daily operations of the Village Office and the Village Community Center.
  • Provides information to residents, and advocates for residents and their interests. Handles residents' questions, requests, and concerns.
  • Oversees and upholds Village Covenants.
  • Serves as Board Liaison between the Village Board, Columbia Association, and government entities.
  • Prepares and monitors budget and submits financial reports.
  • Approves all invoices, signs checks, and approves purchases.
  • Reconciles monthly bank statement.
  • Oversees, prepares, edits, and writes Village newsletters, and arranges for printing and distribution.
  • Gathers and disseminates information for Village residents.
  • Maintains Village social media, blog, and website. 
  • Responds to press/media inquiries.
  • Prepares and distributes the Village’s Annual Report.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
  • 8+ years of property management, nonprofit management, community association, or facility management experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of staff management experience required.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
  • Experience with social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, ConstantContact, preferred.
  • Experience Quickbooks or other accounting software required.
  • Experience with payroll systems and software required.
  • A resident of Columbia/Howard County is desired. 
  • Familiarity and understanding of Columbia Villages/Community Association is preferred.
