DIRECTOR, EVENT MARKETING

The Director, Enterprise Marketing is responsible for directing and managing staff, programs and operations including Enterprise events, Alumni events, sponsorships, sponsor cultivation and relationships, event marketing, and marketing communications. The Director, Enterprise Marketing will evaluate all Alumni programs, develop long-range marketing goals and help implement new programs to meet goals.  This is an exempt position reporting to the Executive Vice President, Engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Enterprise Events
  • Lead the Events team with Association wide events (Blue Angels Picnic, Induction Day Picnic, Distinguished Graduate Awards dinner, alumni social events, tailgates, etc.).
  • Assists the Alumni Association and Foundation Events Director in managing existing special event projects such as Reunions, Homecomings, Army/Navy game, etc.
  • Strategically plan and develop new ideas for events to involve the broad base of alumni, both regionally and nationally.
  • Ensures that activities sponsored by the Alumni Association and Foundation are planned and leveraged in ways that capture data and information needed for institutional advancement purposes.
Event Marketing and Marketing Communications
  • Cultivate and expand sponsorships for events and programs to generate revenue and assist in offsetting costs for events and programs. 
  • Prepares sponsorship offerings, steward sponsors and other partners, including marketing, implementation and appreciation efforts.
  • Develop new and innovative sponsorship opportunities in coordination with the EVPs of the Alumni Association and Foundation that contribute to the mission of the organizations without detracting from traditions and reputation of USNA Alumni.
  • Manage relationships with all USNAAA/F sponsors and affinity partners to enhance further opportunities for mutual growth.
  Alumni Event Management
  • Manage alumni events including Alumni golf event, Alumni events, Alumni protocol. 
Budget
  • Develops, manages and monitors the components of the Association budget that are related to marketing, Enterprise events, Alumni events and sponsorship.
  • Manages program-specific budgets as well as producing annual reports.
Contracts
  • Oversees the preparation and revision of contracts that involve the purchase of sale of goods and services, as related to Marketing, sponsorships, and events.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions.
  • Supervise and coordinate with event contractors.
  • Manage supplier relationships
  • Prepares contract briefs and revisions summarizing contractual requirements and budgets.
  • Maintains an audit file for each contract which will include the original contract, all correspondence, changes/deviations, amendments, clarifications and payment schedules.
  • Ensures the contractor is in compliance with legal requirements, owner specifications and government regulations.
Additional responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Supervises Marketing staff
  • Serves as a board liaison with the Board of Trustees membership and services committee.
  • Represents the Alumni Association and Foundation at various member and related events, conferences and seminars and may assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the EVP of Engagement 
Qualifications:
  • Strong commitment to the mission and values of the Naval Academy Alumni Association.
  • Plans and implements multi-faceted programs for alumni, students and friends that increase good will and positive relationships
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with 8-10 years of experience in Marketing.
  • Possesses excellent sales, marketing, membership, customer service and administrative skills.
  • Contracting experience a must.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to be persuasive and influential.
  • Evidence of successful event, sponsorship, marketing and business development/relationship programs required.
  • Excellent project and event management skills, including keen attention to detail.Has the ability to implement professional events on short deadline and deliver diverse and complex projects.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Expertise with MS Office – Word, Excel, Power point and Access.
  • Extensive knowledge of Raisers Edge or other Alumni database.
  • Able to work independently and creatively and supervise staff in all areas of responsibility.
  • Able to travel to on site inspections and events, to include regional Alumni events as needed, away football games, conferences, other class, club or chapter events.
  • Budgeting/Accounting experience for non-profit environment required.
  • Experience in development, alumni relations and event management in a higher education or specialized school setting.
