JOB SUMMARY
We are recruiting for a Geriatric Dog Program Manager to provide program management and care for our senior doggie’s. The Geriatric Dog Program Manager will perform a variety of health care duties and behavioral assessments for our senior doggie’s to assist them in adjusting to the change in their environment, while ensuring they are receiving proper care during their stay with BFFE.

A Day in the Life of Our Geriatric Dog Program Manager Looks Like This…
  • Ensure a delightful customer service environment – for our canine best friend and their human best friends.
  • Recognize the need for and provide specialized care for our senior dogs, ensuring they meet any specific needs for disabled or aging dogs.
  • Lovingly and gently hold or restrain our senior canine friends while they received necessary treatments.
  • Administer insulin injections, apply wound dressings, administer oral and topical medications, and take vital signs for our senior dogs.
  • Provide a variety of care services for our senior dogs including, but not limited to, prepare food, store food, feed, and bathe when necessary for sanitary reasons.
  • Provide direct supervision to 4 to 5 Silver Dog Handlers; carrying out the necessary supervisory responsibilities to ensure the team follows BFFE policies, procedures, and adheres to applicable laws.
  • Provide direct staff with training, scheduling, mentoring, and general performance management in conjunction with the Daycare Operations Manager and/or Facility Manager. Keep staff motivated by finding fun ways to energize and recognize employees.
  • Assist staff to understand and learn about the needs of aging dogs, provide necessary training, and enforce policies as appropriate.
  • Provide training and education to senior doggie handlers for performance of job requirements.
  • Do laundry for all departments within the facility.
  • Assist with front desk responsibilities as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High school diploma or GED equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of dog handling experience; preferable senior dogs.
  • Current Pet First Aid and CPR certifications from an accredited program.
  • Current Vet Technician certification from an accredited program.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, safety rules, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and organize thoughts in writing to express ideas and thoughts.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of employee, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts to process payments and apply discounts as necessary.
  • 2-3 years of MS Office experience (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook).
  • Genuine love for canine best friends of all breeds, sizes, and needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, you will regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. You will stand; walk; sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. You will occasionally be required to climb or balance. You must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Yes, you may have to pick up poop too.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Did we mention poop?
