Description

This position assists our client team by working with our internal team and our multiple clients. We're seeking an energetic, ambitious, and motivated Senior Project Manager who is responsible for managing software development projects.
The Senior Project Manager (SPM) will work closely with the Software Development Team in the design, implementation and support of new software projects through the installation and account management process. The SPM will record detailed customer requirements, constraints and assumptions in order to establish the project deliverables. The SPM is responsible for coordination of software design, development, and client support on the various projects. The SPM will be the focal point for the customer on all issues during the design, implementation, and implementation process. The SPM will measure project performance, create, track and forecast changes in project budgets. The SPM will also provide technical writing, specifications, and documentation.
The ideal candidate should have experience in managing complex projects and handling requests from multiple sources. Additionally, this person will have experience dealing with multiple parties with different needs and timelines and manage conflict resolution, negotiation, and facilitate difficult discussions. Scrum and agile experience highly desirable.
Illustrative Duties & Responsibilities
Client Interaction
- Manage tools, processes, and timelines for receiving and prioritizing customer requirements using project management software.
- Develop process for assessing requirements and determining how impact of each requirements will be developed and measured post implementation
- Manage project priorities from key stakeholders in a systematic fashion
- Create communication reporting processes with key stakeholders
- Develop reports summarizing requirements and how the requirements will be developed
- Create and maintain an information technology project plan that communicates tasks, milestone dates, status and resource allocation.
Software Development & Technical Specifications
- Work with software development team to create the software products
- Utilize software life-cycle methodology.
- Partner with software development team on software development, implementation, and technical specifications
- Create technical specifications for each software product/project
- Coordinate delivery of development (beta) and production releases that meet quality assurance standards.
- Assist test team in creating test plans and testing efforts.
- Assist technical team in design and development task
- Establish control resources to track all changes associated with the project.
- Assess all change requests to determine possible alternatives and costs.
- Ensure that change requests be reviewed and approved by the project owner.
- Approve change requests on the scope, schedule, and budget of the project and communicate to the Project Owner.
- Update change control resources to reflect current status of change requests.
- Communicate the project status to the Project Owner at agreed-upon intervals
- Provide a written status report to the Project Owner at agreed-upon intervals
- Conduct regular update/status meetings to review completed tasks and determine current work priorities
User Acceptance Testing
- Ensure User Acceptance Testing (UAT) meets user expectations when released.
- Run the current project state through a series of specific tests to indicate whether or not the project will meet the needs of the intended users as well as internal organization stakeholders.
- Ensure alpha and a beta testing stages and make necessary corrections per the contract requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in the software development and/or project management capacity.
- Basic programming experience with software development or database management.
- Broad experience needed with dealing with multiple business groups in a cross-functional/matrixed environment, preferably in a consulting environment.
- Agile and Scrum experience a plus.
- Thorough understanding of project management principles, strategy and execution. PMP Certification a plus.
- Proven ability to define and accomplish short-, mid- and long-term goals.
- Proven ability to work with clients and software development teams.
- Experience effectively managing both people and projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Outlook) and project management software for analyzing data and presenting information.
